Elizabeth Stephenson

Established Artist in Lockerbie

Elizabeth Stephenson

A printed textiles graduate (Edinburgh College of Art), Elizabeth worked as a textiles technician and in commercial knitwear garment production.  She enjoys creating and mending with fabric, yarn, and paper. She has been fascinated by textiles and the connecting threads of shared activity for as long as she can remember, from early memories of learning to knit with her nan, to the joy of chatting with fellow knitters on long train journeys.  She loves trying out different ways of working, and if there’s an opportunity to get messy with dyes and paints, even better!

Elizabeth has worked across Dumfries & Galloway collaborating with people on their vocational and creative goals via mental health support roles and community art projects over a period of 17 years.

She lives with her family in Annandale.

“Making and mending things together can bring about new connections, ideas, and exciting projects.  As part of the What We Do Now network, I’m really looking forward to learning from and contributing to the creative conversations unfolding in Lockerbie”.
