Arts, Communities and Place Event

An introductory event to discuss art and culture’s important contribution to place-development and regeneration.

There is some brilliant and foregrounding work happening in Dumfries and Galloway and The Borders using arts practice as a catalyst for community-led change and placemaking but there is also a need for greater support and understanding of this work.

The South of Scotland Enterprise, and other funders, are encouraging more joined up working and thinking between our regions, particularly between groups and organisations working in this way, to make this happen.

Many are doing this already; Destination Tweed and Connecting Threads, Alchemy Film and Arts, Creative Arts and Business Network and The Stove Network have been talking to each other about the work we are developing to find areas of mutual learning and support and develop our potential for greater connections and shared advocacy for the future of creative community-led work.

There are many others working, and who are interested in, creative place development and community-led regeneration and have something to bring to this. The organisers would like to invite those interested join WWDN and others to help open out this discussion around what more joined up and connected working might need and look like to support this creative community-led approach.
