Also known as The Toon, Since 2017, the Stranraer Oyster Festival has been held, as a celebration of Scotland’s wild, native oysters, as Loch Ryan is one of the last locations where they can be found.


Place Hub

Stranraer Millennium Centre is a social enterprise set up in 1998 and is run by the Stranraer Millennium Centre Community Trust to develop a community & event centre from former supermarket premises in Stranraer.

In 2018 the centre underwent a multi-million-pound reconstruction and is now a bright, vibrant and versatile venue that provides a huge range of activities including a café, performances classes, youth clubs and more. It is also provides training and support for a community radio station.

Established artist Hope London and emerging artist Rory Laycock have been exploring the themes of Identity and Vision as part of What We Do Now with Stranraer Millennium Centre.

Creative Stranraer a prototype hub that will lead into the much-anticipated redevelopment of the former George Hotel as a new cultural and community space for the town and surrounding area.

Creative Stranraer host a range of activities and events including artist gatherings, workshops, events, exhibitions and has become an HQ for information and exchange on all things creative that are going in in the town.

Janet Jones is the Creative Stranraer Engagement Officer, helping create a vibrant and dynamic town full of art and culture.
