A Creative Placemaking Approach

Date of Resource:

Creative placemaking uses arts and culture as a foundation for community engagement and a driving force in local decision-making. It is a part of collaborative frameworks towards shared goals (health, net zero, employability, wellbeing, economic regeneration) and long-term benefits for communities.

It provides a way for communities to explore the changes they need and allows the process to lead to the final outcomes.

Understanding, sharing, and telling the story of this approach is crucial if we are to truly value and invest in the vital role that creative work, workers, and spaces have to play in this.

This document has been developed through our own experience over ten years at The Stove. It draws on learning from our ‘What We Do Now’ pilot, alongside extensive research, consultation, collaboration, and influence from across the sector.
