Launching WWDN as a Network for Creative Placemaking

Date of Resource:

After two years of joint activity, collaboration, and shared experience, What We Do Now (WWDN) launched on the 9th of May at The CatStrand, New Galloway.

Bringing together founding members with both new and familiar faces from across the region and further afield, the WWDN team presented the aims and ambitions of WWDN. Their goal is to share knowledge, develop skills, and grow capacity within our communities for creative placemaking work to happen.

Here is a welcoming presentation about the network from Katharine, the Director of WWDN.

An Introduction to the WWDN Creative Placemaking Network by Katharine Wheeler.

Guest speakers, Peter McCaughey and Emma Jayne Park were invited to share their experiences of arts and cultural work within communities, and their sense of self and identity while working collaboratively in public spaces.

The day was raw, honest, and sometimes challenging, as we immersed ourselves in what this work could be and mean for those involved. We shared stories and ideas, and celebrated what a network could mean in supporting those working creatively towards community-led change.
